Are you starting an online business and confused about how to get leads?  Perhaps you need to find Lead Generation Tools or Services, or find an effective way to generate high quality leads.

Any online business will need people to market to.  It doesn’t matter what your product or service is.  You need a lot of traffic coming to your Website, a great email list or good advertising.

There are two different kind of leads.  One is “cold market leads,” which basically are people who have no idea who you are and are not likely to buy from you, unless you can put them into your funnel so they can get to know you.

The other type of lead is a “warm market lead,” which are leads where the people have already been exposed to you, your product and/or your services.

Warm market leads are much more likely to buy from you.  This is why it is so important to have a funnel that captures emails and converts them from cold market, to warm market, to buyers.

What exactly is a funnel, you might ask?  In marketing it isn’t a cone shaped device to pour things into.  Instead you have a capture page, that makes an offer to your prospects in exchange for their email address.  You might give something away for free like a short ebook, an audio, or an E-course. 

Once people sign up to get your “free” offer, they end up on your email list.  Now they are part of your warm market.  You can produce a follow-up series of emails so your audience gets to know you even more and are more likely to buy what you are selling.

As I said in my “Serve not Sell” blog post, the intention of your funnel is to serve your prospect.  Give them value.  The more value they get for free, the more they will trust you and be willing to buy what you are selling.

Although building your own email list is the most effective way to get high quality leads, you will need to get people to your capture page.  They aren’t going to find it on their own.  In the world of online marketing you can no longer “build it and they will come.”  The online marketplace is far too competitive for this.

You can get people to your capture page through social media, advertising or cold market leads.

Cold market leads can be leads that you purchase through a lead generation service like “My Lead Gen Secrets.”For $30 a month you get 100 leads a day, which equals 3,000 leads a month.  They also have an affiliate marketing program, so if you refer one person you get double the leads per day which equals some 6000 leads a month and you can make an affiliate commission.

These leads are geared toward affiliate marketers and those seeking business opportunities.  Although some people have great success with these leads, they are very cold and you will need a lot of them to be effective.  My suggestion if you use a lead generation service like this, you try and get them over to your own email list by getting them to “opt-in.”  You will not want to paste them over to your list, as they may report you as spam which is a sure fire way to get shut down by your list server.

Your best leads will come from your own funnel but like I said, driving people to your capture page to get them to opt-in to your list may require paid leads, advertising or a lot of clever posting on social media, that is not salesy or spammy.  Think “Attraction Marketing.”  which is a way to market that is organic and brings people to you, instead of your having to go out and sell them.

The Lead Generation Tools I have mentioned are all things I have used and promote, because they work.  Like I said, there is no easy way to just put up a shingle (Website) and expect Google to send you an abundance of free traffic.  Getting Google to send you traffic is another story altogether.

You need to be willing to do the work, be consistent, don’t get discouraged, get help if you need it, and keep going.  If you are not seeing results right away, just keep at it.  Some people using My Lead Gen Secrets, say they had to get tens of thousands of leads before they started seeing any kind of consistent sales.  No matter what you do, it is a numbers game.   For high quality warm market leads you may have a one or two percent sales rate.  With cold market leads, it may be .1 percent.  Some people have higher, some lower.  It depends on your offer, your product, your services and how you present yourself.
